The rules of the scholarship were originally approved at the Associations Executive Committee meeting 12 th February 1969. The scholarship has been given out since 1963. Pro Paper scholarship was previously known as Post Graduate -scholarship. The name and rules of the Pro Paper scholarship were approved by the Executive Committee of PI 13 April 2004.
RULES
§ 1
Pro Paper –sholarship of Paper Engineers' Association (PI) is meant for high quality research work covering some parts of the whole chain value of the pulp and paper industry. The aim is to create new information, develop ideas and innovations. The research work is to be done at least partly abroad.
§ 2
The recipient(s) should be a member of PI. The scholarship can be given out to one person or to a research group. The amount of the award is max. 50 000 €. The scholarship can cover partly also living and travelling costs and it can be also divided into parts and given out to several applicants.
§ 3
Scholarship is given out every 1-3 years depending on the applications. Dead line for the application is the end of September. Following appendix is to be added to the application:
· copies of certificates describing succesfully completed academic studies
· a research plan including timetable, cost estimate and study plan
· letters of recommendation for applying for the scholarship and/or references of persons giving recommendation, if any
· copies certificates from previous employers, if any
· list of other received and/or applied scholarships and awards
For justified reasons the scholarship can be joined with other grants. The recipient must show progress reports of studies or research work to PI at appointed times.
§ 4
In case the recipient(s) neglects to inform the PI of the progress of the studies or other obligations or in case the recipient changes the study program, the scholarship has to be returned to PI.
